Trick-or-Treating for a Cause
Do you remember those orange boxes that schools would issue to children for Halloween? The UNICEF donation boxes are still in use, and is more well-known than ever. The project began in the United States in 1950 and has now become a tradition in Canada, Hong Kong and many other places worldwide. Also, the project had pushed UNICEF's Canada division to declare October 31 National UNICEF Day.

The concept is simple: kids would go trick-or-treating as usual, asking for donations to UNICEF, which would be returned to school and counted. The money would specifically go to charity efforts backed by UNICEF. This is a very unique approach to donating, but on on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of effectiveness, i would give it a 7. The program is voluntary, meaning that the money raised may be less than anticipated.
