Let's Go to Science School
Every year, the Ontario Science Centre offers grade 11 high school students a chance to engage in a semester-long learning experience outside of the classroom. Grade 11 students from across Ontario can earn a grade 12 science or mathematics degree in a set of very challenging yet exciting activities. Subjects of study include biology, physics, chemistry, calculus and advanced functions. Entry is free and is funded by the Centre.
The thing about the Science School is that entrances are highly limited. The student must get a recommendation by two science or mathematics teachers, and although this is province-wide in theory, the program is offered in English only, excluding Franco-Ontarian and third-language/ESL students. These factors will affect my rating, which is based on accessible/restricted. Nonetheless, what is being offered can help bring up the next great scientist; perhaps, someone who can discover a new cure or a new link to the earth's past.
